Last July, Stella M. Holmes, producer of the documentary film West Encounters East, visited our center with her production team to interview us for her second documentary as the organization that issues the certification of Japanese food knowledge.
"West Encounters East" has been already aired on more than 285 TV channels in the United States, and will be shown at the NYC Independent Film Festival in October, 2013. The schedule for the release for the second documentary is not set yet.
Around the world, curiosity and interest in the history of Japanese food, its culture, traditional table manners, etc. are increasing more and more those days. In the interview, we discussed the background of Japanese food culture and history. We also selected one particular topic to demonstrate - how to use chopsticks, and what kinds of the chopsticks are used for which occasion.
The license exam of Japanese food knowledge was established to appreciate our Japanese food culture by learning about it systematically. Our center strives to promote the appropriate knowledge of Japanese food and culture to the world.
